This was the first project in LCE's
partnership in Korea. Leveraging LCE's cinema development and operational expertise,
an evaluation of the project was conducted focusing on specific areas of the program,
since the project had advanced prior to LCE's involvement.
Areas of focus:
- Projection and sound technical specifications
- Presentation standards
- Cinema overall functional layout and efficiency
- Information and point of sales system
- Operational standards
- Staffing requirements
- Pre-opening and opening plan
To deal with the
operational issues, a team was assembled to cross-train management and operations team
members from Korea in the US. Likewise, a team was assembled to evaluate the
technical issues. The objective during this evaluation was to establish a standard
for cinema development and operation based on LCE's philosophy for future projects
throughout Korea.
Team building and cultural sensitivity were important in
establishing a trustworthy and productive relationship between both companies.
Efforts from both teams contributed to the success of Megabox Cineplex becoming one of the
most recognized entertainment locations in Seoul and one of the most visited theatres in
the world.
